In memory of Dave Scott
Lewisburg Village Mayor David Scott died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, He was 70 years old.
“Dave was a very smart, passionate, caring and dedicated person,” Municipal Manager Jeff Sewert said in an official statement from the village. “He really, truly cared and was dedicated to the Village of Lewisburg and its citizens and businesses and organizations, not to mention the employees and fellow members of village council, boards and commissions. He is a tremendous loss to the village, and our prayers are with his family.”
Scott was born on May 23, 1940, in Knox County, IL. He served with the U.S. Navy form 1958 to 1962, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and Business from Southern Illinois University.
Scott retired from H&H Sales and was currently serving his second term as mayor, along with serving as president of the Lewisburg Area Chamber of Commerce.
He was a member of the Lewisburg Historical Society, Preble County Republican Party Central Committee, Lewisburg Christmas Tree Light Committee, Dayton Area Red Cross Volunteer & Disaster Relief Team.
Scott Also refereed area high school basketball games, and was a local soccer, softball and basketball Coach. He also coached softball at Wright State.
A memorial service was held Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lewisburg, where Scott was a member.
